New for 2027

Introducing JPK's new blue-water cruiser

JPK Composites is delighted to present its latest Fast Cruiser: the JPK 48 FC. It is the worthy successor to the JPK 45 FC, launched in 2017, with more than 30 units now sailing across the world’s oceans… A success that proves it perfectly met the expectations of ‘long-distance sailors’! The JPK 48 FC follows in this tradition by retaining its strengths in terms of safety, comfort and performance, whilst seeking to improve in every respect:

The hull has been updated: it draws partly on developments made to our racing champion, the JPK 1050, to reach planing speed sooner, improve performance on a reaching course, increase stability downwind, and reduce pitching.

The interior and exterior ergonomics have been optimised down to the last detail, with a wide range of customisation options.

Finally, the aesthetics have been completely revised and offer a modern design inspired by our best-seller, the JPK 39 FC, and our Nomad 40.

The JPK 48 FC is, in short, the finest of all JPK boats. Work on the hull mould has already begun, and the first model is expected to be launched in the spring of 2027. Enjoy discovering it!

The JPK 48 is first and foremost a magnificent boat, with a refined design by Jean-Baptiste Dejeanty and a high-performance hull by Jacques Valer, yet built for long-distance cruising. A boat that combines all the qualities in terms of build quality (always a strong point of JPKs), ergonomics, safety and pleasure for everyone on board: from those who love pure sailing thrills to friends and families who simply want to sail in a relaxed manner!

Conception

From the JPK 45 FC to the JPK 48 FC: the story behind a new model

With the JPK 48 FC, we wanted to create a boat capable of sailing far, fast and for long periods in all conditions, whilst remaining simple, forgiving, elegant and a pleasure to live on day to day. Its modular design also makes it suitable for a wide range of uses, thanks to its extensive customisation options. A sailing yacht designed by sailors, for those who have a deep love of the sea and sailing.

Architecture: new hull and centering of weights

Designed by Jacques Valer, the hull of the JPK 48 FC draws inspiration from the developments made for our JPK 1050, with fuller forward sections, a slightly shallower hull draft, and a straighter aft slope.

The expected result is a gain in power, allowing the boat to plane slightly earlier, improving performance on reaching, and increasing stability on downwind courses.

Upwind performance has also been enhanced: great attention has been paid to weight distribution and balance:

  • batteries positioned forward under the saloon, located beneath an accessible technical column dedicated to managing the on-board systems;
  • anchor chain storage and windlass moved back to the mast bulkhead by 4 meters, representing 240 kg of centralised weight;
  • fresh water, fuel, black water and grey water tanks located below floor and waterline levels.
  • a streamlined bulb keel and a classic, lightweight rig to lower the centre of gravity.

Rock-solid construction

Like all our boats, the JPK 48 FC will be constructed using composite infusion technology (fibreglass and Corecell core sandwich): an ultra-rigid material that is stronger and lighter than aluminium, repairable, and resistant to corrosion and premature ageing.

The boat’s structure is integrated into the hull and infused at the same time, resulting in a one-piece platform – a veritable fortress that is essential for the demands of long-distance voyages around the world. We offer the option of adding Kevlar reinforcements. The bow features a crash box and the aft compartment (which houses the steering systems) is watertight.

Our draping and construction techniques, developed over more than twenty years, have been further improved thanks to the integration of a foam machining and fabric cutting center into our shipyard. This optimises the build process and reduces construction time, enabling us to offer an attractive price for this range of boats. Exterior

Ergonomics inspired by ocean racing

This was a major strength of the JPK 45 FC: a unique and particularly well-thought-out cockpit layout designed for long offshore crossings, even with a small crew: the piano is brought back to two consoles, allowing the entire boat to be manoeuvred from the helm; a rigid canopy (doghouse) that can be opened or closed provides shelter from the wind, spray and sun suitable for all latitudes, with an clear view from its raised watch stations.

On the JPK 48 FC, we have remained very faithful to this universally appreciated cockpit, adding a few centimetres here and there for greater ease and comfort. The seating are now wider, the cockpit table more spacious, and the piano more generous, with the addition of instrument consoles at the helm stations. The dog house’s peripheral vision has also been significantly improved.

A wide range of possible configurations

A wide range of possible configurations The boat’s superstructures can be adapted to suit any requirements: the famous doghouse can be fitted with solar panels; and a lightweight, rigid composite aft gantry can be connected to it via a structure supporting additional solar panels and serving as the framework for a unique bimini configuration, covering the entire gantry.

This integrated design, inspired by the latest generations of offshore racing yachts, allows for sailing either completely open or sheltered from the elements, without the need for traditional stainless steel structures.

The propulsion system will also be customisable, as the JPK 48 FC will be available either with a 57 to 110 hp Yanmar 4JH diesel engine, as a hybrid version with a generator, or as a fully electric version, as was previously the case with the JPK 45 FC (notably on the Kahuna, which set off on an expedition to the Arctic Circle).

Access to the sea via a foldable stern platform

New feature on the JPK 48 FC: the cockpit is now enclosed at the stern when sailing, and can be opened wide to provide full access to the sea thanks to a large folding platform, which increases the overall length from 48 to 51 feet. This provides the opportunity to enjoy both a swim platform with a ladder and a landing stage for the tender.

A boat suited to all latitudes

The JPK 48 FC is suitable for all types of sailing: from expeditions in challenging environments, such as Cape Horn or Spitsbergen, to farniente in the islands and crystal-clear lagoons.

The boat offers maximum functionality for sailing with a small crew or solo, and provides a truly seaworthy vessel with reasonable dimensions, thereby optimising annual maintenance, handling and mooring costs.

Inside the ship

A sailing yacht that's a pleasure to live on

On the JPK 48 FC, the use of space replicates what made the JPK 45 FC so successful, whilst introducing an innovative new forward space that is very versatile depending on the plans.

From the stern to the saloon

Aft on the port side, a double cabin with storage units and a large hull porthole on the sea side, longer and higher than on the JPK 45 FC.

Aft on the starboard side, a utility room convertible into a cabin with a fold-out bed. As well as providing storage space, there is access to the central area behind the engine, which houses all the electrical systems and equipment: a real bonus for maintenance.

The first bathroom, with shower, sink, toilet, and a wet wardrobe or washing machine, is located just past the companionway, on the port side. It has been significantly enlarged compared to that of the JPK 45 FC.

On the other side, there is a generous chart table integrated into the galley layout, with its ergonomic watch seat inspired by our racing yachts. In the centre, opposite the companionway, a small cabinet and a cable duct centralise the switchboard and electrical cables.

The saloon, with its large port-side saloon and long starboard-side galley, continues to offer an incredible panoramic view thanks to the roof and the large side hull portholes: the result is an extraordinarily light living space, allowing you to keep an eye on the outside, whether under sail or at anchor, without having to get outside.

A fully modular forward space

The owner’s cabin has been completely redesigned on the JPK 48 FC to become a proper suite: a large double bed along the direction of travel, on the port side, is set in a comfortable alcove with storage. On the starboard side, the possibilities are endless: a long shelf, a desk, a bench seat with a large sea-facing porthole, bunk beds…

The forward section of the JPK 48 FC is designed to be a particularly versatile space, available in several versions: a version with a large private bathroom, featuring a sink and toilet on the port side and a shower on the starboard side; a version with a long walk-in wardrobe on the port side and a compact bathroom on the starboard side; and a version with the same compact bathroom on the port side and a workshop with a worktop on the starboard side.

These three versions feature a large “XXL” sail locker in the bow, accessed via a ladder from the deck, followed by a crash box.

A fourth version replaces this sail locker with an additional double bed, further increasing the sleeping capacity: in total, the JPK 48 FC can therefore accommodate between 6 and 12 people. Other versions are yet to be imagined with our clients, depending on their requirements.
